QRA UK 2005 Announcement
(News)

The Quad Racing Association UK (QRA UK) has been flat out date crunching for the three championships for 2005 and Tony Nash would like to thank all those people and clubs who have once again been so welcoming of the QRA.

The increasingly popular QRA UK British Quad Endurance Championship will be at least 10 rounds. There are some awesome rewards for the 2005 season, not just for the front runners, all will be revealed just after Christmas.

There are lots of classes within the championship to accommodate everyone and give everyone something to compete for. So besides the Open class we have a Ladies class, Over 40’s, 4x4/Auto etc. So to get the registration pack for next years championship, get in touch with the QRA.

Any rider wishing to compete in the nine round QRAUK/ACU British Quad Motocross Championship should get in touch with Tony Nash to apply. Plans are in place to run a meeting in February as a qualifier for those other than seeded riders. We are already up to capacity, unfortunately last year 26 riders had to be disappointed. We feel that a qualifying meeting will be a fair way to decide.

Each championship round will start with timed qualifying for grid positions, followed by three races. 34 riders maximum. Two venues to be confirmed, we are trying to locate suitable Northern England/Scottish venues.

The classes will be Pro Production and Open. The Pro Production for machines with the engine and frame produced by the same manufacturer and the chassis and engine crank cases remain standard. The Open class for all makes and cc of Quad as per the ACU Standing regulations up to 700cc.

It looks set for the championship to be back on the box in 2005. Subject to sponsorship to contribute towards the TV production costs, which Yamaha UK have done now from the first seasons showing four years ago and we are very grateful for their support over those years.

Plus back to the roots of the QRA – Quad Speedway. We have an eight round championship with venues confirmed already as Stoke, Newport, Sheffield, Isle Of Wight and will be known as the 2005 QRA Short Track UK Championship. A prize fund is already in place for the series.

These will be combined events with a new solo class based on the American Dirt Trackers – those old anoraks who love the film On Any Sunday will instantly associate with this style of racing. It will be a great partnership and the QRA is pleased to be instrumental in kick starting this exciting new formula with Peter Boast who is looking after the solo riders.

There will also be the Quadcross/ TT events scheduled to start in January and will run throughout the year including some Thursday evenings in the summer. The trial event was very well received and saw Richard Seal blow away the cobwebs and the other riders.

The QRA continues to help other clubs set up around the British Isles, also encourage clubs to include Quad classes at their events and has some very exciting news in the new year for Quad riders in Scotland and Northern Ireland which the QRA are working on at the moment to further assist the sports growth.
